The stories presented in this collection were written and published by Witold Gombrowicz before the war, and in a new edition, taken as the basis for the translation, in 1957; The novel “Pornography” was written in 1958 and published in 1960. From the writer’s extensive diary heritage, those pages have been selected that will help the reader better understand the works contained here. Foreign words and expressions that have long entered our everyday life are left without translation, i.e., exactly as the Author did for his reader. During the translation, some features of the “intonation” punctuation invented by Gombrowicz, which is in many ways different from the generally accepted one, are preserved.
