“Ferdydurka” is an exciting read, but not easy. This is a philosophical story, a grotesque, a literary essay, and a lyrical confession, heavily seasoned with sarcasm and self-irony - perhaps the only reliable intellectual defense of the soul in the age of unbridled progress of everything and everyone. But, of course, “Ferdydurka” is, first of all, real literature. “I tried to show that the last resort for a person is a person, and not any absolute value, and I tried to reach this most difficult kingdom of self-loving immaturity, where our unofficial and even illegal mythology is being created.
