“Mixed signs [of the three parts of the universe]” (Tzu Tzu) - a monument of the 12th century. from the famous Tangut collection of the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This text, which was considered as a source for deciphering Tangut writing, presents the key words of Tangut culture, arranged according to three traditional categories of the universe—“Sky,” “Earth,” and “Man.” The vocabulary of “Mixed Signs” indicates not only objects of material culture, but also the range of ideas that underlay the spiritual culture of the Tanguts, the structure of their society and state, their ideas about the world and nature. This publication contains translations, articles, comments, as well as a facsimile of the text reconstructed on the basis of incomplete surviving copies of Tzu Tzu.
