“The Complete Historical Records of Dai Viet” is a state chronicle, the central monument of the traditional historical thought of Vietnam. Volume 3 includes chapters I - IV of the Main Annals of the source, dedicated to the period of the reign of the first three independent Vietnamese dynasties after the re-independence - Dinh, Early Le and Later Ly (968 - 1225). The introductory article discusses the issues of reconstructing early Vietnamese chronicles; the appendix includes translations of the most important parallel texts devoted to the history of the country in the 10th – 13th centuries.
