This publication is the first complete translation into Russian of the Rig Veda, an ancient collection of poetic hymns addressed to the gods of the Aryan tribes who invaded the Hindustan Peninsula from the north-west. Created in the middle of the 2nd millennium BC. e. this is the first monument of Indian culture, literature, religion, philosophy, which also preserves Indo-European reminiscences and, along with this, is the source of the development of all further Indian traditions.

“Rigveda” is a collection of hymns in the Vedic language, one of the four Hindu religious texts known as the Vedas. The Rig Veda was apparently compiled around 1700-1100. BC e. and is one of the oldest Indo-Iranian texts and one of the oldest religious texts in the world. The most ancient mandalas of the Rig Veda are considered to be II–VII. For centuries it was preserved only in oral tradition and was probably first written down only in the early Middle Ages. “Rigveda” is the most ancient and significant of the Vedas, a valuable source for the study of ancient Indian history and mythology.
