The issue opens with the story of the classic of German literature of the twentieth century, Ernst Jünger (1895–1998), “African Games”. Translation by Evgeny Voropaev. An ordinary story: under the influence of books, a dreamy young man flees from his homeland to distant lands in search of a true life. In this case, from Germany to Marseille, where he is recruited into the Foreign Legion, staffed, as it turned out, by a uniform rabble. The mercenary recruits are sailing to Africa, where, in fact, the hero of the story was aiming. To be continued.
