The third book “Akbar-name” is a continuation of the first edition in Russian of the monumental work written in the 16th century by the historian and political figure of India Abul Fazl Allami. Being a friend and adviser to the padishah Akbar, he talks about the time and conditions in which Akbar’s youth passed. The history, recorded in detail, shows the development of the personality of the great ruler.

The text is supplemented with fragments from the outstanding set of documents “Ain-i-Akbari” (“Institutions of Akbar”), which will introduce readers to the monetary system of the Mughal Empire. The book is equipped with a detailed scientific commentary, name and geographical indexes, and the presented reproductions of unique Persian and Indian miniatures of the 15th–17th centuries from the collections of the Russian National Library and the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the medieval East firsthand.
