The narrative of the seventh book covers the events of 1585–1605. This is the period when Akbar, who gained recognition as a great ruler far beyond the borders of Hindustan, had to not only pacify the rebellions of the courtiers, but also face the ambition of his first-born, Prince Salim, and survive the death of his sons, his beloved mother and friend. The text is supplemented by an introductory article and an appendix - selected chapters from Ain-i-Akbari. The publication is supplied with detailed scientific commentary, name and geographical indexes. The presented Indian miniatures from the rich collection of the Chester Beatty Library (Dublin, Ireland) and color photographs provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the art of the Mughal era.
