The famous rubai quatrains of Omar Khayyam (c. 1048 - c. 1123) have been translated into Russian for more than a hundred years, but with particular success - since the 70s of the 20th century. The collection you are holding in your hands includes rubai translated by the wonderful poet and translator of oriental poetry German Plisetsky. “Herman Plisetsky’s Khayyam convinces primarily because in his translations the old Iranian sage is a truly great poet” (B. Slutsky). The introductory essay by Samuel Lurie “Binom of Khayyam”, the preface by the poet-translator himself, and the afterword with a story about his fate.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
