The three-volume collection of works by Jean Cocteau (1889–1963) will very fully present to our reader the literary work of this truly unique figure of Western European art of the 20th century: poet and prose writer, playwright and screenwriter, critic and art theorist, a diverse artist, painter, graphic artist, set designer, caricaturist , the creator of amazing frescoes, who seemed to be able to handle everything. This Renaissance-gifted man became a symbol of the modern avant-garde for many years. The first volume included three major poetic works by Cocteau, “The Rospev,” “The Angel of Ertebise,” and “The Crucifixion,” as well as lyrics collected from his various poetry collections. The prose is represented by three works that can only conditionally be classified as a novel, works that are very autobiographical and “personal” and at the same time accurately depicting the time and endless loneliness of the poet in the world of rough and cruel reality. These are "Double Splits", "Enfants Terrible" and "White Book". The same volume includes three film novels by Cocteau; translated into Russian for the first time.
