“Translation competition”. This time the column is dedicated to the Polish poetess, Nobel Prize winner (1996) Wislawa Szymborska (1923–2012). In the introduction to the publication, poet and translator Igor Belov emphasized the complexity of the work done by the translators, citing the formulation of the Nobel Committee in justifying its decision: “for poetry that with ironic precision reveals the laws of biology and the action of history in human existence.” And the author of the introduction exclaims: “But how to convey this filigree, elegant “ironic precision” in translation?”
