William II's speech on board the battleship Wörth evoked harsh responses from the official British press. In connection with the so-called “Wörth incident”, criticism began to be heard in British circles, and after the First World War in German ones, condemning the use of battle sites for the names of German ships, although many French ships bore the names of foreign cities on board, walls of which successful battles took place for them.
