The collection of fictional prose by Irina Odoevtseva includes novels and stories that have not previously been published in Russia and have not been republished abroad, written in the 1920s and 30s. in Parisian emigration, an introductory article about the life and work of the writer and comments. The appendix publishes critical reviews of contemporaries about Odoevtseva’s novels (G. Gazdanov, V. Nabokov, V. Yanovsky, etc.). The proposed works, which were popular with Russian and foreign readers, introduced a special intonation into the literature of the Russian emigration. They contain responses to a wide variety of phenomena of French culture, reproducing the aesthetics, style and life of the interwar decades. The collection is intended for a wide range of readers, as well as specialists in the literature of Russian emigration, teachers, students and graduate students studying the culture of Russian diaspora.
