The anonymous 13th-century poem “Bestiary of Love in Verse” is a kind of discourse on the nature of love; in it, the material of medieval bestiaries is reinterpreted in a courtly manner. Unlike its predecessor, Richard de Fournival's "Bestiary of Love", the poem is not limited to parody, but also contains a pronounced lyrical element. The poem has not previously been translated into any modern language. The proposed translation aims to introduce the Russian reader to this unique monument of medieval literature. On the cover: A hunter kills a unicorn. Manuscript from the Getty Museum in Los Angeles (MS. Ludwig XV 4, fol.85v.)
