For the first time, the most valuable monument of Byzantine literature of the 7th – early 19th century is published in Russian translation. VIII centuries, created on the basis of a real historical event - a theological dispute that took place in 645 in Carthage between St. Maximus the Confessor and ex-patriarch of Constantinople Pyrrhus. "Dispute" is one of the important sources for the study of Christological disputes that worried the Byzantine Empire at an early stage of its existence. The book is supplied with materials introducing the reader to the life of St. Maxim and the peculiarities of his theological thought.
