This publication contains some of the most characteristic works of genres of medieval literature that are not very well known to the domestic reader. Compared to, say, a gesture, a chivalric romance or the lyrics of troubadours, they can be called “marginal” - as if located “on the margins” of the text of medieval culture, as it appears through the distorting optics of romantic and post-romantic ideas. Meanwhile, it is “miracles”, “bestiary”, “grimoires”, etc. the works constituted that specific background, without which a portrait of the culture of the 12th-16th centuries would remain just a contour sketch.
