Günther Grass, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, won world fame half a century ago with his novel “The Tin Drum,” brilliantly filmed in 1979 by F. Schlöndorff (the film received the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar for best foreign film ). Grass's bestsellers "The Cat and the Mouse", "Dog Years", "The Trajectory of the Crab", "From the Diary of a Snail" have been translated into dozens of languages. “The Onion of Memory” is an autobiographical book. Talking about his youth, Grass did not keep silent about his several months of service in the SS troops, which caused a huge scandal around his name.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
