“The Fall” is the last completed story by A. Camus. Trying to answer the eternal question: “What is the meaning of human existence?” – the writer chooses the form of the hero’s confessional monologue. Camus exposes the most terrible human vices, which cannot be condemned by the court as an authority, but are contrary to virtue. The main character of the story, having realized himself as a hypocrite and a sinner, does not renounce his essence, but finds an excuse for continuing his usual life... No wonder Jean-Paul Sartre characterized the story as “the most beautiful and least understood” book by A. Camus. In this edition also includes a collection of short stories “Exile and the Kingdom.”

«Падіння» - це не просто літературний твір, а справжня філософська подорож у глибини людської душі. А. Камю майстерно використовує форму монологу-сповіді, щоб розкрити найпотаємніші думки та переживання свого героя. Читачу пропонується зануритися в світ, де лицемірство, гріх і пошук сенсу існування стають основними темами. Головний герой, усвідомивши свою сутність, не намагається втекти від себе, а навпаки, приймає свою природу, що викликає глибокі роздуми про моральність та людські вади. Хоча книга може бути важкою для сприйняття через її філософську глибину, вона залишає незабутнє враження і спонукає до роздумів про власне життя. Що стосується перекладу, то, незважаючи на деякі недоліки, загальний зміст та емоційний заряд тексту зберігаються. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто прагне зрозуміти себе та світ навколо
