This book includes two works by Camus, completely different in genre, but equally significant both for his work and for French existentialism as a whole. What can unite an essay written at the intersection of literary studies and philosophy, and a play that is modern tragedy of fate? One of the main ideas of Camus, which he used as the basis for his literary and philosophical existentialist concept, is the idea of rebellion. A rebellion, albeit three times doomed to failure, but encouraging a person who wants to control his own destiny to fight against the laws of society. A meaningful life, according to Camus, is impossible without struggle, just as struggle is impossible without the will to freedom, which again and again confronts us with “ damned" questions of existence.
