“Ten Years in Exile” is a story by the famous French writer Germaine de Stael (1766-1817) about Napoleon and how, fleeing his tyranny, she crossed all of Europe in the summer of 1812, at the height of hostilities, in order to get to England through Austria, Russia and Sweden. The translation is equipped with detailed comments, which not only explain the realities mentioned in the text, but also restore the sources of Madame de Stael’s information about Russia and the circle of her Russian acquaintances. The book has been translated and commented by a leading scholar employee of the IVGI RSUH Vera Arkadyevna Milchina.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
