“Kristin, daughter of Lavrans” is one of the best novels by the Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset (1882–1949), for which she was awarded the Nobel Prize. The novel takes place in Norway in the first half of the 14th century.
“The Mistress” is the second part of the trilogy about the fate of Christine. The heroine rebels against patriarchal traditions and, against the will of her father, defends the right to love the chosen one of her heart.

Книга «Господиня» є справжнім шедевром, що занурює читача в епоху середньовічної Норвегії, де патріархальні традиції домінують у житті жінок. Сігрід Унсет майстерно описує внутрішній світ Крістін, її переживання та боротьбу за право обирати власний шлях у житті. Ця друга частина трилогії вражає глибиною персонажів і їхніми емоціями, а також відображає складність соціальних норм того часу. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які іноді відволікають від основного сюжету, загальна якість тексту та сила історії компенсують ці недоліки. Я рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує літературу, що піднімає важливі питання про права жінок та любов. Вона залишає глибокий слід у душі і спонукає до роздумів про власні цінності та вибори.
