Francis Bret Harte (1836–1902) is a famous American writer, won recognition all over the world, and was invariably popular in Russia. The third volume of his Works included not only the stories of the recognized master, but also several of his literary parodies, as well as a sample poetry - a ballad dedicated to the famous voyage of Vasily Rezanov to America.
