The next e-book from the series “Pirates, corsairs, filibusters” is dedicated to little-known pages of the life and pirate adventures of one of the leaders of the French filibusters, Captain Jean de Grammont. Using the French port of Petit Goave in the western part of the island of Haiti as a base, Grammont became famous for his raids on the cities of the Spanish Main in the 70s and 80s of the 17th century. He led filibuster campaigns against the cities of Maracaibo, Gibraltar, Trujillo and La Guaira in Venezuela, and was also one of the leaders during high-profile pirate attacks on the Mexican port cities of Veracruz (1683) and Campeche (1685). As a true sea tramp, Grammon found his last berth at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in the Azores region. Abundantly illustrated with old maps, engravings and drawings, Victor Gubarev’s book can be a real gift not only for those readers who are keen on studying the history of sea robbery, but also for all lovers of pirate adventures.
