“Ada, or Otrada” (1969) is the pinnacle achievement of Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977), the largest and most significant of his novels, which reflected half a century of literary and scientific experience of the bilingual writer. Written in the form of a family chronicle, spanning a century and a half and a long cast of characters, it is perhaps the most extraordinary love story ever told in any language. “Tragic separations, reckless dates and a rapturous finale in the tenth decade” of the cosmopolitan existence of the two main characters, Van and Ada, take place against the backdrop of epoch-making events taking place on distant Antiterra, which is gradually acquiring earthly features, refracted by the writer’s magic crystal. The novel is published in a new translation, prepared by Andrey Babikov, with translator's comments. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
