The collection “Common People's Stories Published in the Capital” includes seven stories of the Song era (X-XIII centuries) - seven unsurpassed examples of oral folk art. The themes of the stories are varied: they raise problems of love and morality, everyday life and government. The stories vividly reproduce the ethnography of life in a Chinese city during the Song era. Some stories are full of fantasy elements. The composition of the stories, associated with the manner of oral performance, is also unique. This publication includes the first complete translation into Russian of the collection “Common People's Stories Published in the Capital”, a preface and detailed notes (both factual and textual).
