Explaining the need for periodic updating of translations of foreign classics, M. Yasnov also gives the following argument: “... the work of a poetry translator in each specific case is innovative, in general it is becoming more and more conservative. Using a well-known definition, I would call this state of mind: waiting for the barbarians.”
