“Yellow History” (“Sira tuyuji”) is a unique monument of Mongolian historiography of the 17th – early 18th centuries, a rare example of the early Khalkha chronicle tradition. The work is of interest as a source on the history of Khalkha, as a monument of the Mongolian written language, which preserved many features of the pre-classical period, and as a source of later historical works. The book reproduces for the first time a facsimile of the so-called “Radlovsky list”, stored in the manuscript collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts (Asian Museum) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a new translation of the “Yellow History” into Russian has been carried out, which largely clarifies and corrects what existed until now.
