The “In memoriam” section is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the classic of French literature, Albert Camus (1913–1960). Speaking about the history of his creative heritage in Russia, the translator and author of the introduction, scientist Boris Dubin, writes: “... at least two generations of readers in the “most reading country in the world” were deprived of this wealth. Such a “dash” does not pass without a trace for culture...”, and further - about “the narrowed horizons and the robbed fate of these generations themselves.” Here is also a draft of A. Camus’s preface to Simone Weil’s book and a fragment of the essay “The First Smile of the World” by Polish writer Marek Zaganczyk (1967), where the author commemorates Camus’ travel diaries. Translation from Polish by Ksenia Staroselskaya.
