The history of the car began at the end of the 19th century thanks to engineers such as Benz and Daimler. Cars began to seriously replace horse-drawn carriages only at the beginning of the 20th century. Among those at the forefront of this process was a man named Ferdinand Porsche (1875-1951). Porsche was born into the family of a repair shop owner. Having become a designer, he gave the world many wonderful cars. Porsche dreamed of creating an inexpensive and high-quality “people's car” and for this he collaborated with Adolf Hitler. He managed to create the famous Volkswagen and Porsche car brands, charting the path for the development of the post-war automobile industry. Porsche cars scored approximately 23,000 victories in various races. Porsche's advanced technologies are used not only in the production of cars or fantastically powerful engines. For example, the Lohner-Porsche, shown at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900, became the model for the creation of the lunar vehicle used during the Apollo 15 space expedition. It can also be said that Porsche technology remains a fundamental component of the environmentally friendly cars being designed since the end of the 20th century. The name of Ferdinand Porsche has taken an honorable place in the history of the automotive industry and will not be forgotten as long as cars exist on Earth.
