At the beginning of the 20th century, cinema became “the most important of the arts.” The center of the world film industry after the First World War moved to Hollywood, and Europe, especially England, lagged behind the United States in this area. However, it was in foggy Albion that a young director appeared, whose ideas and methods of their implementation not only helped English cinema rise to the level of its overseas neighbor, but also set the development directions and standards for the production of Hollywood and world cinema for many years. Hitchcock created a new genre in cinema called “suspense” - from English “uncertainty”, “suspense”, “anxiety”. All these qualities were abundantly present in the master’s works. Conceived as purely commercial and entertaining, his films have become classics of modern cinema and art.
