The Essays of Montaigne (1533–1592) is a work in form that is a free combination of notes, reflections, observations, examples and descriptions, anecdotes and quotations, combined into chapters. The titles of the chapters eloquently indicate their content: “On grief”, “On friendship”, “On solitude”, etc. “Experiments” is one of the remarkable monuments in which the humanistic ideals and freedom-loving ideas of the advanced culture of the French Renaissance were clearly reflected. The second volume of “Essays” includes the reflections of the Renaissance philosopher Michel Montaigne on various areas of human existence.
