The new volume of the collected works of the classic of Belgian literature Raymond Jean Marie de Cremer, better known under the literary names Jean Ray, John Flanders and Harry Dixon, includes nine stories from his almost unknown cycle outside Belgium. The series is dedicated to the adventures of the descendant of one of the episodic heroes of Arthur Conan Doyle, mentioned in the stories about Sherlock Holmes - Professor Joe Bell. Before us is a new hero, sixteen-year-old Edmond Bell, as young as Rouletabille from Gaston Leroux's The Secret of the Yellow Room, just as insightful and just as brilliant. The situation is different with the two stories about Inspector Triggs: most of the stories dedicated to him coincide in plot with the stories about Harry Dixon. Most, but not all: two stories, the only magazine publication of which took place in the mid-50s, were discovered quite recently, and exist only with this main character, who looks a lot like Simenon’s Commissar Maigret.
