This book is a historical and philosophical study of the Silver Age. The author highlights the most significant trends in the philosophical development of this era, studies the influence of the creative personality of F. Nietzsche on the views of domestic thinkers: L. Shestov, D. Merezhkovsky, N. Berdyaev, Vyach. Ivanov, M. Voloshin, P. Florensky; notes that philosophizing in that era in Russia was combined with an original interpretation of both artistic and sacred texts.N. K. Bonetskaya is the author of two monographs and numerous articles on the problems of Russian thought, the history of Russian philosophy of the late 19th – first decades of the 20th century. She introduces the concept of “Russian hermeneutics”, points to its origins in previous literary criticism and describes Merezhkovsky’s creative method from a given angle and Shestov. The monograph explores the philosophy of the name, the new religious consciousness of the Silver Age, and the occult origins of a unique religious era. The “Spirit of the Silver Age” “blows” especially clearly in these phenomena of the era: this is the conviction of the author of the monograph, who paints a phenomenological picture of the Silver Age.
