The author opens in the monograph a completely unexplored page of Russian culture of the Silver Age - the creative phenomenon of the writer and translator Evgenia Kazimirovna Gertsyk, whom N. Berdyaev called “one of the most remarkable women of the early 20th century, refined and cultural, imbued with the trends of the Renaissance era.” The author traces the spiritual path of her heroine, starting from childhood and adolescence and right up to life in the USSR. The researcher manages to collect numerous autobiographical and epistolary facts together with confessional diary evidence into a single “portrait” of E. Gertsyk.
