Jonathan Carroll is an American living in Vienna. He is called a worthy successor to the traditions of both his famous namesake and G. G. Marquez, and not without a fair admixture of Richard Bach. “Laughing Land” is Carroll’s debut novel, which is still considered by many to be perhaps the pinnacle of his work. This is a book about love as a method of artistic creativity, about the labyrinths of obsession and about applied zoolinguistics (talking dogs).
