The novel “French Creek” was published in 1941 and three years later was filmed. The title role was played by Joan Fontaine, the famous performer of the role of Rebecca, another heroine of Daphne Du Maurier, in the film of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock.

Роман "Французів струмок" - це справжня перлина, яка переносить читача у світ загадок, романтики та небезпеки. Леді Сент-Колам, що втікає від світського життя, стає свідком неймовірної трансформації, зустрічаючи французького пірата, який виявляється зовсім не таким, як вона собі уявляла. Автор майстерно поєднує елементи романтики та пригод, створюючи захоплюючий сюжет, який тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Пейзажі Корнуолла описані так живо, що ви немов відчуваєте свіжість морського вітру та солоність хвиль. Хоча книга була написана у 1941 році, її теми кохання, самопізнання та боротьби зі стереотипами залишаються актуальними й сьогодні. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які незначно впливають на загальне враження, я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто любить захоплюючі історії з глибокими персонажами та емоційним підтекстом. Вона залишає по собі приємний післясмак і бажання зануритися у світ романтики ще раз!
