The epistolary legacy of Ilya Ehrenburg is being published for the first time and includes both letters scattered across hard-to-find periodicals and those published here for the first time. The writer’s fate was such that he found himself at the epicenter of the most significant events of his time, therefore the letters, arranged chronologically, provide an impressive panorama of wars and revolutions, the flowering of world avant-garde art. At the same time, they contain unique material on the history of literature, covering various political eras. The first volume includes 600 letters from 1908–1930, when the writer mostly lived abroad (in Paris, in Berlin, again in Paris); This is an almost complete set of Ehrenburg’s letters from those years that have now been identified. The letters are addressed to Russian and foreign poets, writers, artists, theater and film workers, and famous politicians. The publication contains an extensive scientific apparatus.

Епістолярна спадщина Іллі Еренбурга, представлена в цьому виданні, не лише відображає його особисті думки та переживання, але й дає можливість заглянути в епоху, сповнену революцій та мистецьких злетів. Листи, адресовані видатним особистостям, відкривають перед читачем глибину думок і почуттів автора, а також його ставлення до подій, що відбувалися в той час. Якість перекладу, незважаючи на деякі недоліки, не заважає насолоджуватися текстом, а навпаки, додає особливого колориту. Видання також супроводжується науковим апаратом, що робить його ще більш цінним для дослідників та любителів літератури.
