Life experience, too extensive for a young man, required creative implementation: following numerous essays and journalistic publications, the novel “All Quiet on the Western Front” appeared in 1929. A kind of “echo” of the novel was a series of six stories that were published in 1930–1931 in the American magazine Collier’s Weekly under the general title “The Enemy” (Der Feind). In the Russian edition, the title of the collection was chosen from another story - “Anneta’s Love Story.”
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program.
