The place and role of Genghis Khan in history are large-scale and multifaceted. The collector of Mongolian lands, the creator of a unified Mongolian state, he is recognized as the greatest commander, who had no equal either before or after him. Like many centuries ago, interest in the era of Genghis Khan does not wane in our time. In the collection “Genghisiana. Collection of Contemporary Evidence” includes the most important historical, literary and artistic monuments created in Mongolia and other countries in the 12th–17th centuries. and dedicated to Genghis Khan. The main one is “The Secret History of the Mongols” - a masterpiece of Mongolian culture, an example of elegant literature, standing on a par with the great ancient literary monuments, such as “The Iliad”, “Odyssey” and “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign”. In addition, the book contains legends and traditions about Genghis Khan, many of which were specially translated for this collection, as well as fragments of his famous “Great Yasa” (a set of imperial laws of the 13th century) and a collection of sayings and instructions “Bilik”. The collected material gives extensive food for thought about the personality and powerful talents of the great commander, about the time and people that gave birth to him, and, finally, about the place that Genghis Khan occupies in the history of mankind.
