The book tells about important and interesting events of Serbian history, victories and defeats in battles, prominent personalities and Russian-Serbian relations. The narrative begins with the Nemanjic era, the Battle of Kosovo, the role of the Serbian church, and the life of medieval society. The 19th century is represented by the main Serbian dynasties of that time - the Karađorđević and Obrenović, as well as an outstanding political personality, the largest politician of independent Serbia and the “builder” of the First Yugoslavia, Nikola Pašić. History of the 20th century begins with a story about Russia’s previously unknown humanitarian assistance to the Balkan peoples during the years of the Balkan Wars and the First World War, as well as about King Alexander Karadjordjevich, who was killed by the conspirators on October 9, 1934. Of significant interest is the section about Russian emigrants who first found temporary refuge in the Balkans, and then then permanent place of residence after the revolution in Russia in 1917. An important place in the book is given to the personality of Josip Broz Tito and the story about the essence of the conflict between the USSR and Yugoslavia in 1948. The book ends with a presentation of Russia’s position in relation to the Balkan peoples of the former Yugoslavia in the 90s last and the beginning of this century. The book is intended for readers interested in the history of the Orthodox Slavic peoples.
