Before you is the first edition in Russian of the novel “North” by a classic of French literature, one of the most eccentric writers of the 20th century, L.-F. Selina (1894–1961). Like all the author’s other books, they are autobiographical. Four people wander through war-scorched Europe: Celine himself, his wife Lily, friend Le Vigan and the cat Beber, who became the most famous cat in French literature. These are the main characters, all the rest are episodic characters: generals without armies, heads of bombed stations, residents of destroyed German cities and villages, refugees, children lost by their parents, animals, a huge and mournful procession of the living and the dead, and all of them - together with Celine - witnesses of the Apocalypse, where the writer, as he admits, “is the chronicler of the performances of the World Guignol Theater.”
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.

Вражаюча подорож крізь руїни війни та людських доль
Роман «Північ» Л.-Ф. Селіна — це справжня літературна подія, яка переносить читача в епоху, коли Європа переживала свої найтемніші часи. Селін, як завжди, майстерно поєднує автобіографічні елементи з художньою вигадкою, створюючи унікальну атмосферу безнадії та абсурду. Читачі стають свідками подій, які відбуваються на фоні руйнувань, де кожен персонаж — від генералів до біженців — відображає трагедію свого часу. Кіт Бебер, який супроводжує Селіна, додає нотку іронії та легкості в цю похмуру картину. Переклад, хоч і має деякі недоліки, все ж передає глибину і емоційність оригіналу. Ця книга не лише для любителів класичної літератури, а й для тих, хто хоче зрозуміти, як війна формує людей і їхні долі. Рекомендую всім, хто готовий до глибоких роздумів про людську природу та історію!
