JEAN RAY (real name Raymond-Jean-Marie De Cremer; 1887–1964) was a Belgian novelist. He wrote under various pseudonyms, mainly adventure and detective novels, as well as books in the spirit of Gothic fiction: “The Great Dweller of the Night” (1942), “The Book of Ghosts” (1947), etc. The story “Black Mirror” is taken from the collection “Circles of Fear” "(1943).
