The volume contains a “Chronicle” of post-war events, published by Jünger under the title “Years of Occupation” only ten years after its writing. This Hölderlin understanding of danger and salvation brings Jünger closer to Martin Heidegger and is characteristic of those few European and, in particular, German intellectuals who managed not only to survive, but also to comprehend the fateful events of the history of the past century.
