The story “Satan in Goraj,” the first major work of Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904–1991), was published in 1932 in the literary magazine Globus published in Warsaw. This story already contained what later brought the writer world fame and the title of Nobel laureate - a deep knowledge of human nature, a subtle sense of style, richly depicted life and mysticism, rooted in Jewish folklore.
