The publication presents two author's collections of short prose by the outstanding German writer Hans Heinz Evers (1871–1943). The collection “Nightmares” is presented in Russian in full for the first time; some stories from the book “Obsessed” have been translated anew. Fellow workers called Evers the most disgusting type among their acquaintances, readers called him “the German Edgar Allan Poe,” the great Lovecraft admired his works. The work of this author, revealing the horror of human relationships, absorbed the traditions of romanticism, decadence and expressionism. The heroes of his “scary stories” find themselves in situations that require monstrous efforts of will and tension from the darkest sides of human nature.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.

Ганс Хайнц Еверс майстерно створює атмосферу жаху та напруги, занурюючи читача у світ, де людські взаємини виявляються жахливими і непередбачуваними. Збірка «Кошмари» вражає своєю глибиною і психологічною напругою, а оповідання з «Одержимих» додають ще більше інтриги та загадковості. Автор вміло поєднує елементи романтизму, декадансу та експресіонізму, що робить його твори унікальними. Хоча переклад іноді має недоліки, загальна якість тексту залишається високою, і це не заважає насолоджуватися неймовірними історіями. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто шукає справжні жахи, які змушують задуматися про темні сторони людської природи!
