The next volume of works by Hans Heinz Evers, the “German Poe” and Lovecraft’s idol, presents a collection of short prose “Horrors” and the best stories from different editions of the collection “Grotesques”, the composition of which was repeatedly changed by the author himself. Some works have been translated into Russian for the first time. The book closes with Evers' essay on his favorite writer, Edgar Allan Poe. Evers's work, revealing the horror of human relationships, absorbed the traditions of romanticism, decadence and expressionism. The heroes of his stories find themselves in situations that require monstrous efforts of will and tension from the darkest sides of human nature.

Книга «Гротески» Ганса Хайнца Еверса вражає своєю атмосферою та глибиною. Автор, відомий як «німецький Едгар По», майстерно поєднує елементи романтизму, декадансу та експресіонізму, створюючи унікальний світ жахів, де людська природа постає у всій своїй складності. Кожне оповідання наповнене напруженням і емоціями, змушуючи читача замислитися над темними сторонами людських взаємин. Особливо вразили твори, які вперше перекладено російською мовою, адже це дозволяє зануритися в творчість Еверса ще глибше. Есе про Едгара Аллана По додає ще одну цінну грань до розуміння впливу цього великого письменника на творчість Еверса. Хоча переклад тексту в деяких місцях може бути не зовсім досконалим, загальне враження від книги залишається надзвичайно позитивним. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує глибокі та жахливі історії!
