"History of Sexuality" by Michel Foucault (1926-1984), the greatest French philosopher, cultural scientist and historian of science, is a series of studies devoted to the genealogy of ethics and the analysis of various kinds of "techniques of the self" in ancient times, in the Middle Ages and in modern times, as well as the question of the foundations of the Christian point of view on the problems of personality, gender and sexuality.
