The founder of the literary movement of “searching for roots.” Among the best works are the story “Papapa”, the novel “Maoqiao Local Dictionary”, the collection of essays “Southern Mountains and Northern Waters”, etc. “Maoqiao Local Dictionary” is recognized as one of the hundred best classical Chinese novels of the 20th century.
