The book is based on declassified archival materials of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service and the Hall of its History. The author of the book is a veteran of foreign intelligence (retired colonel), journalist and writer, laureate of the SVR Prize of Russia in the field of literature and art, and a number of other literary awards and competitions. After graduating from the Red Banner Institute of the KGB (now the Foreign Intelligence Academy), he worked for more than forty years in the central and foreign foreign intelligence apparatus, as well as in its Press Bureau.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.

Книга "Життя по «легенді»" відкриває читачеві унікальний світ радянської зовнішньої розвідки через призму життєвих історій неймовірних людей, які присвятили своє життя служінню Батьківщині. Автор, полковник у відставці, майстерно описує не лише їхні героїчні вчинки, але й людські переживання, страхи та надії, що робить ці біографії надзвичайно близькими та зрозумілими. Якість перекладу, хоча й має деякі недоліки, не заважає загальному сприйняттю тексту, а навпаки, додає певного колориту. Читання цієї книги стало для мене не лише пізнавальним досвідом, але й можливістю замислитися над важливістю служіння, відданості та патріотизму. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться історією, розвідкою та людськими долями!
