There is no man in the world who would love another man as much as I love you. You stupid bastard, understand this already. I'll go crazy and commit suicide if you don't love me. Divinely built, desirable beast.

Gerard Reve met Wim Schumacher in 1952. They spent 10 years together. In 1963, Wim met a young Englishman, M., and went to him. Reve repeatedly proposed reconciliation, but the breakup became final. Letters to Vim came from different countries. Revé visited East Berlin and found it disgusting; he wanted to move from the Amsterdam cold to Spain or Morocco, but returned home disappointed.

“Letters to Vimy” is evidence of passionate love and the birth of a new literary style, which the writer called revism .
